RIP Rue McClanahan



Actress Rue McClanahan, 76 died in NewYork–Presbyterian Hospital after she suffered a stroke and subsequently a brain hemorrhage.. The actress best known for her role as man-crazed Southern belle Blanche Devereaux on the hit sitcom Golden Girls (1985-1992). Devereaux was the owner of a house inhabited by four roommates: herself, Dorothy Zbornak (Bea Arthur), Rose Nylund (Betty White), and Sophia Petrillo (Estelle Getty). McClanahan’s death leaves Betty White as the sole surviving Golden Girl: Beatrice Arthur died from cancer last year, while Estelle Getty died in 2008. McClanahan has been breast cancer survivor since 1997 and suffered a minor stoke after a bypass surgery in
2009.
