According to a London coroner his body was filled with cocaine, anti-anxiety medication, sleeping pills and tranquilizers which all played a major part in his decison to take his own life on Feb. 12th. He was overwhelmed by the death of his mother and serious bouts of depression, anxiety, and insomnia. He also had a history of self harm. He was seeing a psychiatrist, Dr. Stephen Pereira but failed to keep appointment to discuss his condition. It was also reported that he had attempted sucide at least twice in the year 2009. He felt that there was little to live for after the death of his mother Joyce.
McQueen who first worked for Givenchy for about five years before deciding to launch his own line McQ labels and Alexander McQueen. He was a genius in his own right and is gone to soon. There will never be another Alexander McQueen and will be greatly missed. My best childhood friend decided to take her life at age 16 and she failed to realize who she was leaving behind and what impact that she had not only on me but the world as a whole. She was also a genius and I miss her dearly.
