Rihanna, sings the hook on the track, is seen performing in front of a burning house, her hair just as red as the flames that leap from the windows and turn the white picket fence a shade of black. Eminem is later seen performing with Rihanna in front of the burning house. The video is being shot in LA and is directed by Joseph Kahn who has worked with such artists as Mariah Carey, Lady GaGa, Ciara and the Black Eyed Peas. Love The Way You Lie tells the story of a couple who can't stay apart despite bringing out the worst in each other. Rihanna portrays a woman who's not ready to leave despite the danger: "Just gonna stand there and watch me burn / Well, that's alright because I like the way it hurts / Just gonna stand there and watch me cry / Well, that's alright because I like the way you lie."
Eminem's album Recovery hit stores on June 21 and to date it is still number one the Billboard charts. Recovery has outsold such new albums as Korn, Newsboys, Sting and M.I.A. Eminem’s Recovery (Aftermath/Interscope) sold another 196,000 copies in the United States last week.
